The Greater Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce seeks to promote and foster responsible economic development. The Chamber accomplishes this goal by providing the necessary resources and opportunities for businesses to prosper. The Chamber fosters communication between partners to enhance networking opportunities and increase communal benefits. Additionally, the Chamber has a variety of committees and task forces targeting specific sectors of the Greater Carlisle economy in order to effectively and efficiently provide the best economic opportunities.Our Vision

Founded in 1913, the Greater Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce has been serving the Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Area for more than 100 years. Our mission is to serve as a community catalyst that encourages and supports economic growth and stability. How exactly do we do that?
Through listening to and meeting the needs of our members and community, as best we can.
In order to do that:
•We help connect people to what they need to start a business here, grow a business here — or even move a business to Carlisle.
•We plan, host, and partner in diverse networking and professional-development events.
•We foster dialogue and communication with our members and community partners, about how we can better support them.

YWCA Carlisle
“Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women”
YWCA Carlisle is a non-profit, social justice centered agency that works to eliminate racism and empower women in the Carlisle community and beyond. YWCA operates programs for people of all genders, from preschool age into adulthood. Many of their program offerings focus on educating members of the Carlisle Community. For example, a youth program called “After School Homework Club” provides “a safe and enriching environment for students in grades kindergarten through fifth to complete their homework.” Many of their programs, like this one, are staffed by volunteers from the Carlisle and Dickinson communities. Other programs focus on teaching nutrition, sexual violence prevention, physical wellness, fitness, and respectful communication. There are many volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved, which can be found on the YWCA Carlisle website. -

Employment Skills Center
The Employment Skills Center is a non-profit agency that has provided adult education and training to the greater Carlisle area for over 47 years. We believe that education is the key to better job opportunities, family-sustaining wages, and more meaningful involvement in the community. We offer classes in Adult Literacy, GED® Preparation, Nurse Aide pre-clinical training, English as a Second Language (ESL), Computer Skills, and Work Readiness training. As the leader in adult education in Cumberland County, we continually strive to provide innovative programs that empower our students to become valuable employees and self-sufficient members of our community.
Our mission is to empower people through education and training for job betterment and personal growth and our vision is to be a recognized community leader for personal growth and workforce development through education. ESC directly relates to the mission of GCP through our desire to continually improve the lives of residents in the Carlisle area by providing education and training that will allow residents to live more meaningful and independent lives.
The Employment Skills Center is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County
The United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County is a branch of the national United Way of America. Its mission is to “improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.” The United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County provides a sustainable framework for assembling financial resources for the advancement of community needs. The coalition creates lasting connections between organizations whose missions are interconnected and who can mutually benefit from the maintenance of long-term relationships. -

Hope Station
“The Hope Station Opportunity Area Council seeks to lift up the entire neighborhood by tackling our most difficult problems through education, technology, job development and most importantly, teaching our children to become leaders by learning to respect themselves and others.”
Hope Station embodies social sustainability in its emphasis on the need to start with children in building a stronger, cohesive community. Its programs promote the values of self-esteem, service, and respect for others that will be carried through the community from generation to generation. Hope Station also functions in an economic sense, building community capital and offering counsel to community members who are seeking work, the idea being that opportunities for employment begin with a foundation of confidence and community support. -

Carlisle Lions Club
“Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief – to serve their community.”
The Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organization with chapters all over the world. The Lions Club of Carlisle meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 6:30PM at Hoss’s Steak and Sea. They work in 209 different countries and geographic areas. The Lions are best known for fighting blindness, which began when Helen Keller challenged the Lions to be the “knights of the blind” in 1925. They also host projects related to hearing loss and diabetes within their mission to make the world a healthier place for everyone. Other key focuses include environmental projects, post-disaster relief, and youth education. Lions aid in long-term reconstruction of community infrastructure and even provide grants to support humanitarian projects around the world. -

Carlisle West Side Neighbors
“The Carlisle West Side Neighbors are a group of residents who are spreading the gospel about our great neighborhood and looking to improve it along the way. We started our group in the Spring of 2011 and have been connecting residents who share a love of our North West Corner of Carlisle. We make our presence known at the public meetings related to [various] projects to ensure the voices from our neighborhood are heard.”Mission: Carlisle’s West Side Neighborhood is a vibrant, diverse community anchored by many supportive community organizations and churches. We respect the ideas and opinions of all residents and encourage feedback on ways to strengthen our community through improved safety, security and personal neighborhood connections. Our goal is to look for opportunities to enhance public spaces in our neighborhood through personal and organizational partnerships, address areas of concern by working with local law enforcement, and providing a voice for our residents as the landscape of the West Side changes through the Carlisle Urban Redevelopment Plan.
Sustainability Mission: Carlisle West Side Neighbors promotes sustainability values by refusing to see dead ends in underutilized spaces. In its revitalization projects, it takes advantage of the inherent capital offered by parks and other often abandoned spaces in order to transform them into community spaces. In doing so, West Side Neighbors brings community members together with a common interest and an avenue for collaboration.

The Downtown Carlisle Association promotes tourism and community involvement in the area’s cultural, artistic, and recreational offerings, including current events at the Carlisle Theatre, different restaurants, street fairs, etc.LoveCarlisle.com promotes the real heart of Carlisle, focusing on its small businesses and local attractions that may not be as visible to the outside eye. It directs attention towards the historical aspects of Carlisle, inviting visitors and community members alike to revel in a colorful history. Beyond streamlining financial support towards local attractions, it encourages a sense of pride and place for all residents of the Carlisle community.
