“Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief – to serve their community.”
The Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organization with chapters all over the world. The Lions Club of Carlisle meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 6:30PM at Hoss’s Steak and Sea. They work in 209 different countries and geographic areas. The Lions are best known for fighting blindness, which began when Helen Keller challenged the Lions to be the “knights of the blind” in 1925. They also host projects related to hearing loss and diabetes within their mission to make the world a healthier place for everyone. Other key focuses include environmental projects, post-disaster relief, and youth education. Lions aid in long-term reconstruction of community infrastructure and even provide grants to support humanitarian projects around the world.
